Our extra-curricular highlights
Band
Our school band is open to all students in Yr3-6. Students participate in lessons & ensemble rehearsals once per week after school. In addition to informal demonstrations for parents each term, our bands perform regularly at school events throughout the year - and occasionally travel to perform and represent our school at community events.
Visual art club
Dance programs
The Junior and Senior Dance Group offers students the opportunity to learn dance routines, build confidence, and make new friends. Students demonstrate their commitment by attending weekly lunchtime rehearsals and have the chance to audition for and perform at both internal and external events. This is a fun and engaging way for students to develop new dance skills and styles while proudly representing Ryde Public School.
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Gardening club
Our Gardening Club is a hands-on, outdoor program where students learn to care for plants, grow their own vegetables and flowers, and develop a deeper understanding of sustainability and the environment. Through teamwork and curiosity, students explore the life cycle of plants, composting, and the importance of caring for our planet. The club encourages responsibility, patience, and pride as students watch their hard work come to life in our school garden.
Choir
Our school is proud to offer both a Junior Choir and a Senior Choir, providing students of all ages the opportunity to develop their vocal skills and share their love of music. Each choir practices weekly, preparing a diverse repertoire of songs. Throughout the year, students take part in a variety of performances both within the school and in the wider community, showcasing their talents and representing our school with pride and enthusiasm.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
