Stage 1 News

In Science this term, Stage 1 have been learning how living things change and reproduce. The students observed the patterns of growth and change in living things, described patterns and made predictions.

Each student planted seeds and kept a diary, recording the details of their growth. Squeals of joy and hoots of laughter could be heard as, over time, roots, shoots and leaves appeared... as if by magic!

Image: Stage 1 planned to grow two types of plants. The chickpea and the borlotti bean. We soaked them in water, kept them damp for 3-5 days and observed little shoots grow!

Image: We planted them in little cups or ziplock bags. We watered them everyday and made sure the soil was damp.

Image: We measured how much our plants were growing each week.
